I have had it all. Flowers, cheesy cuddle coupons, witty cards, divine chocolates, silk sheets, bubble bath, beautiful jewelry, you name it. But the most romantic thing for me wouldn't really fall in that list.
Under the guise of night, there was a shining and foaming fountain - not the kind you drink out of, but rather the kind they fine you a few hundred if they catch you swimming in it. And I was looking at it, being dazzled by the lights under the swirling water, waiting for the stars to align, wondering what would happen next. You see, it was a test of sorts. I was playing with fire, writing new rules to the game, and then still winning. I wanted to see if he would come to find me.
And he did.
But that was only the beginning of the most romantic romance anyone has ever created for me. I could say it's the little things, like the touch of an elbow at the grocery store, the way he looks into my eyes, how he helps me wash dishes. It's also the big things, like getting up for me at the crack of dawn for 4 months to fight six time zones while I was in italy, or diving unruly distances to see me as often as possible. The cards and sparkles and fun don't go astray, but the most romantic thing that he does (and that nobody else has ever come close to doing) is by being my romance.
